Residents & Ratepayers

If there are residents interested in forming a BCI subgroup for residents and ratepayers then this could be very helpful to the community as a whole.  Get in touch with us if you are interested in getting actively involved with such a group.  A Residents and Ratepayers subgroup to BCI could serve as a liaison between residents and local councils, advocating for community interests and helping foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

The activities and tasks a residents and ratepayers subgroup of BCI could undertake, in addition to those already run by BCI’s existing subgroups of Bushmead Social and Bushmead Conservation Cobbers, could include some or all the activities listed below.

Community Advocacy, Governance & Council Engagement

• Representing residents’ concerns to local councils (e.g., on planning, safety, infrastructure).
• Engaging with local government about issues such as development applications, zoning changes, council local area plans, or environmental concerns. This could extend to submitting formal responses to development applications or strategic plans.
• Petitioning or campaigning for community needs (e.g., park equipment, footpaths, traffic calming measures).

Local Infrastructure & Amenities

• Advocating for improvements to parks, footpaths, lighting, signage, etc.
• Working on traffic and parking concerns, including safety on local streets.
• Supporting one-off and ongoing projects, such as community noticeboards and fire safety programs.

Community Groups & Social Initiatives

• Support other BCI subgroups
• Provide opportunities for community input and updates (email/Facebook/webpage on BCI website).
• Hosting welcome events for new residents.

Communication & Liaison

• Maintaining communication channels (email lists, websites, Facebook groups).
• Keeping residents informed about council decisions, developments, and funding
• opportunities.
• Encouraging community input and feedback through surveys or forums.
